About Baby Blessings Preschool

Here at Baby Blessings Preschool Lonehill, we have 5 beautiful, bright, and cheerful classrooms, catering for between 10 – 12 children in our Playgroup Class, and between 10 – 15 children in our Preschool Classes.

The vital early preschool years are a time when attitudes to learning are established.  We believe that learning is playing and playing is learning. Each child is encouraged to learn through play, and to interact with children of a similar age, while being carefully supervised at all times.

“When you asked me what I did in school today and I say, “I just played”, please don’t misunderstand me. For you see, I am learning as I play. I am learning to enjoy and be successful in my work. Today I am a child, and my work is play”. – Anita Wadley. 1974

You can decide what you would like to make eg. Popcorn, sausage rolls, savoury biscuits & cheese, ice cream cones etc. Please watch for too much sugar moms and no nut products.

Birthdays: A wonderful time together to honour the birthdays of our school children. To any child, a birthday is a really exciting occasion! We make a special birthday crown, and all of the class friends sing Happy Birthday, making the birthday child feel very special! Parents are encouraged to send in a plate of treats, or a cake, which their child will then share with the class on their special day (Please note – No nut products). You are most welcome to send in a camera and we will take photos of your child enjoying their birthday morning! It would be a great idea if parents could donate a new puzzle/or book to our library on their child’s birthday, which the teacher will then read and enjoy with the class.

Facebook: We have a Facebook page, and love to post group pictures from time to time, of our children enjoying their school morning. Please visit and like our page https://www.facebook.com/BabyBlessingsPlaygroupLonehill

Emergencies / First Aid: Our school is linked up to Lonehill Emergency Medical Response, which is operated by a team of experienced Advanced Life Support Paramedics. All of our teachers have attended CPR courses. We are also blessed to have a teacher on our staff, Teacher Benita, who was previously a registered nurse. We maintain a fully stocked medical bag to deal with most “normal” cuts and bruises that occur in the playground. Where a child is deemed to need further attention, the parents are contacted. All parents are required to sign the Indemnity form, which allows the school to act “in loco parentis”. This enables us to take immediate emergency measures such as taking the child to Life Fourways Hospital for treatment, for which cost the parent would be liable. Children love to run, jump and play! There are going to be times when YOUR child is going to fall or be knocked over, and they are going to go home with bumps and bruises. Even though it may not be a serious injury, we will phone and inform you if your child has hurt him / herself.

Clothing: Moms, please don’t send your child to school in smart clothes, as they may get damaged / dirty during play time. Please send a spare change of clothes in the school bag, clearly marked with his/her name. While we do try out best to ensure that any items of clothing that are misplaced or sent home with another child, are recovered, we cannot be held responsible for any losses.

Sunblock: Please remember to apply sunblock on your child BEFORE they come to school. We will re-apply during the morning.

Toys: Please do not send your child to school with any toys unless they are appropriate to the week’s Theme Table or for Show and Tell . These cause disputes, get lost and broken.

Sick children at school: As infections and illnesses are easily transmitted from one child to another in a school environment, we do not allow sick children to attend school. Even a green nose is contagious.

Please DO NOT send your child to school if he / she has a *Green nose – *Eye Infection – *Fever – *Vomiting in the night – *Diarrhoea

Should your child arrive at school sick, you will be contacted to collect your child immediately. We ask for your support in this area as it is in the best interest of your child as well as the other children and teachers.

*Please notify us if someone other than yourself or his / her usual lift scheme will be collecting your child from school. We will not release your child from our care to another person, unless we have been notified beforehand, either via email or sms. It remains the responsibility of the Parent / Guardian of the child, to relay all school rules to any persons collecting the child on any occasion.

*If your child is absent from school for any reason, please let your teacher know as soon as possible! It is VERY important that you keep us up to date with all your latest contact details. We may need to contact you in a hurry… Should any of your telephone numbers change, please inform the class teacher immediately!

At Baby Blessings Preschool, we have an open door policy. As your child is our primary concern, we are always available for a chat, should you have any suggestions or concerns.

The Child Care & Preschool Teacher Poem

Although I am not their parent,
I care for them each day.
I cuddle, sing & read to them.
And watch them as they play.

I see each new accomplishment
And help them grow and learn.
They come to me for comfort.
I soothe away their tears.

They proudly show their work to me.
I give the loudest cheers.
No, I am not their parent,
But my role is just as strong.

I know some day the time will come,
When we may have to part.
But I know each child I have cared for,
Is forever in my heart.
